This is the Official content Logbook for Welsh Esports star Matthew Fisher from South West Wales, Managed by The Welsh Sports Association in Partnership with The British Esports Association and Cardiff University
Matthew Fisher is a 22-year-old esports star from South West Wales, renowned for his dominance in the Formula One Esports League. He is the current and Eight -time World Champion, racing for Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport and Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing. Previously, he drove for Manor Esports Limited.
Fisher is also a prominent campaign leader, advocating for changes to the United Kingdom's gambling legislation, specifically Section 7 rules. This personal mission stems from the lack of dedicated legal or regulatory frameworks for esports in the UK. Fisher often describes his campaign as "climbing an icy mountain with washing up liquid on your shoes," highlighting the immense challenges he faces.
In recognition of his efforts, Fisher was appointed an honorary member of the United Kingdom Conservative Party by the Welsh Conservatives during Boris Johnson's tenure as Prime Minister. This appointment aimed to support his legislative reform efforts.
Following the tragic death of Ken Block in January 2023, Fisher remains the sole active member of the Hoonigan Racing Division. In his statement, Fisher expressed his desire to extend the legacy of HRD rather than racing under the Block House Racing banner, honoring Block's memory and contributions to the sport.
